Who We Are
Muazzam Foundation, founded over two decades ago, is a unique trust that provides a vast array of both life-saving and psychosocial support in Pakistan. The trust provides the vulnerable, poor and destitute with basic physiological and safety needs including food, water, shelter, clothing, education and healthcare, as well as belongingness and esteem needs including love, respect, strength and freedom. We ensure individuals are cared for in all aspects of life from obtaining qualifications/skills for employment to providing advice and guidance on methods to develop as fully functioning individuals of thriving communities.
We have many simultaneous ongoing projects such as our sixty-plus bed state-of-the-art hospital, opened since 1998 serving thousands of poor and needy families with 100% free cutting-edge healthcare and medical treatment. We have institutions that help cater for every aspect of orphans, children with special needs, and the empowerment of women with essential skills to gain independence and self-sustainability. Moreover, we offer a multitude of successfully established projects including providing clean water and sanitation to prevent life-threatening illnesses, the feeding of thousands of families through Ramadan and Qurbani, sanitation and cleaning services to reduce carbon footprint and supporting local poor residents with the opportunity to start small businesses with interest-free loans.
Since 1998, Cpt. Muazzam Ali Shaheed Welfare Foundation has established itself as a recognised charity organisation in the Jhelum district of Pakistan. The founder of the trust, Dr. Yousaf Akhtar, is cherished by the social welfare community because of his tireless social work and selfless character. The foundation was set up in Dr Yousaf’s son’s name having lost his beloved son in the army in 1998.
The foundation has created a welfare programme for the poor and needy without any discrimination of gender, colour or religion. We strive to grow by carrying forward a greater cause; to serve the deprived and destitute people of Jhelum and adjoining areas.
“…The foundations trustees would like to extend their gratitude to all nominated trustees. volunteers. donors, partner charities and anybody who has had a part to play in allowing the foundation to continually meet its aims and objectives. Thanks to everybody involved, the foundation has managed to treat thousands of critically ill patients ultimately saving lives, educated to provide self-sustainable individuals, provided the vulnerable with life’s basic necessities and assisted with natural disasters to safeguard and protect the most destitute…”

Our Donation Policy
Donate NowWe Operate A Strict 100% Donation Policy
Our 100% donation policy means every single penny donated is used strictly for charitable efforts. Your Zakat & Sadaqah donations go into ‘charity-only’ bank accounts from which nothing is removed, not even the costs of fundraising or administration costs. Like any organisation, Muazzam Foundation does have administration costs and overheads to meet, which in turn helps our charity function. Funds are needed to compensate for our web presence, pay bills, cover accounting and legal costs, fundraise and support project costs. This is used from our ‘administration-only’ account where funds are raised through Gift Aid. None of our trustees or volunteers take a wage or salary.
What Is Gift Aid?
So how do we cover these costs? The charity runs a separate ‘administration-only’ bank account. This account has its own sources of funding which includes claiming Gift Aid at 25% and donors specifically donating for administration purposes. For example, we are able to claim £25 on a £100 donation, if it’s Gift Aid eligible. If you are a taxpayer then you can too help us maintain these costs by allowing us to claim Gift Aid on your donations – this has no impact on you whatsoever!
What Makes Our Donation Policy Different?
With some projects, surplus money is raised. Rather than spending for the sake of spending, any surpluses at the end of our financial period, including unused Gift Aid goes back into the ‘charity-only’ bank accounts, ensuring that our beneficiaries are further supported. Every penny donated is accounted for and shared transparently with our donors in our annual reports.
What is our Zakat Policy?
We take Zakat extremely sensitively and hold it with high importance. We’re committed to collecting and distributing Zakat in accordance with Sharia, and in an honest and ethical manner. We believe this is paramount to fulfilling our organisational values, therefore, we have enlisted the expertise of some of the leading and most respected Islamic scholars to form an independent Advisory Board. 100% of your zakat is spent within the year and never accumulated.
